Creating a Sacred Space for Worship

One difference between the worship of the Ancient Church and many modern churches is that, historically, the atmosphere that reminds you that you are coming into the presence of the Almighty God; you church-at-home is participating in something sacred and holy.

The physical setting for worship is important. As we learn to worship God with our entire being, we realize this includes our bodies. We quickly learn that this means not only using our body in worship, but that our five senses impact us as we worship, either helping or hindering us to worship God in spirit and truth.

For instance, the earliest records show the center of worship gatherings was always the Lord’s Table. This was a visible symbol that reassured believers of Jesus’ promise, “Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in their midst” (Matthew 18:20).

Our church-at-home resource, Creating a Sacred Space guide will walk you through the practical steps of:

  1. How to select the right place for worship,

  3. How to arrange things in the proper way,
