Creating a Sacred Space for Worship
One difference between the worship of the Ancient Church and many modern churches is that, historically, the atmosphere that reminds you that you are coming into the presence of the Almighty God; you church-at-home is participating in something sacred and holy.
The physical setting for worship is important. As we learn to worship God with our entire being, we realize this includes our bodies. We quickly learn that this means not only using our body in worship, but that our five senses impact us as we worship, either helping or hindering us to worship God in spirit and truth.
For instance, the earliest records show the center of worship gatherings was always the Lord’s Table. This was a visible symbol that reassured believers of Jesus’ promise, “Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in their midst” (Matthew 18:20).
